Catherine Weinberger

Catherine Weinberger is a labor economist and mathematician at the University of California, Santa Barbara.  Her research interests include the study of relationships between education and labor market outcomes, and how these vary by gender, race and ethnicity. Specific topics of current interest include the dynamics of gender and racial wage gaps as a group of people is followed over time, and long-term impacts of institution-level policies to broaden participation in computer science and engineering college majors. Dr. Weinberger has also conducted research on the role of non-cognitive skills in the labor market, and has used game theoretic models to demonstrate the existence of previously unrecognized barriers to efficient negotiations. Her research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the American Educational Research Association, the Spencer Foundation and the International Foundation for Research in Experimental Economics.
